1st Day of Pre-School

Today was a big day in our house!
Our little boy is now a pre-schooler! Austin started the Tuesday/Thursday program at FUMC's Creative School today. He was all ready with his new Harry Potter t-shirt and a big boy backpack.
I was all ready to make him anything he wanted for breakfast...eggs, bacon, pancakes, french toast...ANYTHING. The boy picked cereal! So, that's what he got. Of course, it was Cap'n Crunch with marine animal crunch berries, so it IS pretty cool!
After breakfast, he got dressed and before we left, I got his picture. I think he grew up a few years as soon as he put on his backpack! He first had it on both shoulders like you're supposed to have it on, then said, "Wait, I want it like THIS," and proceeded to hang it off of one shoulder like some teenager!

Where do they learn these things???

So, we drive to the school and walk in. He finds his name where he's supposed to hang his bag and we start to say goodbye and he won't give us a kiss! He's already embarrassed to give kisses to Mommy and Daddy in front of the other kids...at the ripe old age of 4!!! He gives us this half-way hug and looks at us like, "OK...you can leave now!"
Brian picked him up and the teacher said that he was very well behaved. I asked him what he learned...he said, "I don't know." Again, THAT already? :-) Brian said that the teacher told him that Austin definitely knew the letters in his name and was working on writing it all out. I guess that's what they worked on today. I'm just hoping she can get him to step outside his comfort zone a little in a few areas.
He definitely enjoyed it since he asked if he got to go again tomorrow. Sorry, Buddy, not until the day after tomorrow!
