We booked our round trip flights to North Carolina and worried. Not because we had never bene on a plane with a baby. We had been on plenty of them with Austin...he'd been on all kinds of trips before he even turned one! No, we were worried because it was Colten on a plane. This kid is even more busy than Austin was. I know people think we just don't remember how active he was, but I do, and it isn't anywhere near what Colten is like! I mean, the kid started walking at 8 1/2 months...if that doesn't tell you something, I don't know what does! Anyway, Colten doesn't sit well in a lap. He needs to be down and walking. Not exactly good when you are on a plane for 2 1/2 hours!
Our adventure didn't start off exactly as planned. We got a call the night before saying our first flight was cancelled and that we had been put on a different flight. It worked out ok, but we got in to Raleigh a lot later than I would have liked.
Colten's naps were spent in the Ergo...not the best sleep, but at least he got some!
The very first time he was on the plane, we had a small one. It had two seats on one side and one seat on the other. I had planned to have one parent with Austin and the other holding Colten in the single seat. Well, who knew that while there are three oxygen masks on the side with two seats, but only one on the side with one seat...making a lap child not allowed on that side. So, Brian took Colten for a bit, then we switched seats midway and I took the kids the other part of the flight.
Colten and Austin enjoyed the view in Chicago while we waited for our connecting flight. Brian and I took turns being in charge while the other sat down.
While in Little Rock, Austin got a pair of wings and he wore them the whole trip! He was so proud of his wings!
It was exhausting on the way there, but even moreso on the way back. In fact, I was so tired, I didn't get a single picture! Colten was exhausted and was not as cooperative as he was on the way there. Not too bad, just a little harder. We were happy to be back in Arkansas!
While in North Carolina, we found a house (pictures were posted earlier) and got a tour from our friend, Laura, around the area. We are very excited about the new area, but not the trip back! The next time we go, we'll be driving. In two cars. With both kids, two dogs and a cat. Sounds like fun, right?
